This website has been launched by the MISING AGOM KÉBANG, abbreviated as MAK, (literally, MISING LANGUAGE SOCIETY, also referred to popularly now as MISING SAHITYA SABHA in Assam, India), which is the apex body of the Mising community set up for the preservation and development of the Mising language. MISING was spelt as MISHING by some writers in the colonial days and the colonial practice was followed by some people in later times, but the MAK, since the day of its foundation, has been using the spelling MISING uniformly, as the Mising language does not have any sound corresponding to English SH (phonetically, the voiceless palato-alveolar fricative). The MAK expects that others too would write MISING instead of MISHING to avoid confusion. It may also be noted that the Misings were known to non-Misings earlier as MIRI.

This website will provide in an objective manner authentic information to the global community about the activities of the MAK, about Mising language and literature, and also about all other aspects of the Mising society.
